Under the mentoring of highly experienced water sports business professionals, Green Water Sports has started with a simple WordPress based shopping cart platform in Woocommerce. Simple, yet powerful, Woocommerce has quickly become the go to choice for WordPress based online stores. Green Water Sports also uses a number of plugins for payment gateways, real-time shipping rates, and of course many custom features implemented by Cabarete Web Design. We will be profiling the development of Green Water Sports with several posts. Focusing on payment gateways, Facebook marketing, and many more features used by Green Water Sports.

Their new site is responsive meaning that it works on any device of any screen size, a recent trend for 2013. It’s Flash free, highly visual and utilises a fixed menu bar for easy navigation.

Using Shopify as the shopping cart platform, it seamlessly integrates with the Michigan based fulfilment centre, blog ready and we’ve used a customised theme to match Etoile Du Monde’s inherent sleekness and style.

Credit card payments will be via one of the best, if not the best, gateway setups offered by Stripe. Green Water Sports will also accept payments PayPal, but Stripe streamlines credit card processing and bypasses the need for a very costly, confusing and expensive merchant account. The only catch with Stripe, is you need a USA registered business.

Shipping will be handled by UPS with real-time calculations for each order via their API. Woocommerce works with several shipping methods and Green Water Sports will also use flat rate shipping for the larger items by using a shipping class.

Woocommerce is turning out to be a very powerful e-commerce platform working with the beautiful simplicity of WordPress. Look out for more Cabarete Web Design e-commerce sites that’ll use Woocommerce in the future!

To avoid problems, keeping your installation up to date is the single most important thing you can do. Update your plugins, secure WordPress folders, automate backups in the event of disaster so you have your info and data, and limit your potential spam avenues.

These robots take human written text, slice it and dice it and publish it in all sorts of locations for search engine optimisation (SEO) purposes. These articles include links to various pages that may seem vaguely related. These back links build a site’s profile and eventually their ranking in Google. And we all know that a higher rank in Google is worth it’s weight in gold.

However, Google is now cracking down on this style of content. Google bots are so smart, they know what is genuine content and what is produced by robots. Often these articles are published or “hang out in bad neighbourhoods” and will actually do more harm than good to your site. Sure, you’ve got a tonne of links to your site, but they are from bad places in the world wide web. Google no likey!

So, what do you do? Write articles yourself. Genuine articles about real things. Nothing beats direct contact or communication with current and potential clients. We are all so “connected” these days we have to make an effort to actually “connect” with someone. Represent your business on Facebook, reply to comments, encourage user input, blog about the “goings on” in your neck of the woods. People will see your effort and the rankings and “likes” will come organically. The best and most trusted way.
